Stay Home Discoveries 2.0: Week 6

Our week has been busy! Other than preparing our sample sale (did you manage to get a piece?), we’ve been busy enjoying some locally made sandwiches. We've also got a new book on preorder, a guilty pleasure film favourite and an album to make WFH a bit more upbeat.

What we're reading

Drag Explosion

We’re looking forward to jazzing up our mid-afternoon tea breaks with this new coffee table book. The Drag Explosion collates photos of the drag scene in New York throughout the 80s and 90s captured by Linda Simpson From the underground to the mainstream, this book promises to be a colourful celebration of expression, featuring some familiar faces (I spy RuPaul) and some that we wish we knew.

You can preorder the book from Domain now.

What we’re watching

To All The Boys: Forever & Always - Netflix

Who doesn’t love a high school film? While our own teen years are rapidly slipping away, there’s something comforting and nostalgic about transporting ourselves back to being sixteen and the simple drama’s of the dining hall. The last instalment of the 'To All The Boys' trilogy hit Netflix last week, and we’re not going to lie, we made a whole day out of watching all three back to back.

What we’re making

Reusable cloths from scrap fabric

This week over on the DIY portion of our blog, maker Lily is back with Pt II of her low waste hacks. This time around, she’s showing us how to make reusable cloths from old fabric. Whether you’ve got a duvet cover that has seen better days or an old school shirt lying around, this is a great way to use them up.

Follow along with her instructions (you will need a sewing machine for this one), and set aside an afternoon for some sustainable sewing!

What we’re eating

Dom’s Subs

Sandwiches have gotten a bad rep from the days of the sweaty lunchbox, but this East London company's mighty subs are sure to change your mind about this lunchtime classic.

With a small but varied menu, they’ve got exciting combinations (the tenderstem broccoli dressed with confit garlic and smoked paprika caught our eye), and something for everyone. And they’re full to the brim with filling - definitely a knife and fork situation.

If you’re in the Hackney area, they deliver around lunchtime too.

What we’re listening to

Isles by Bicep

Finding something to listen to whilst working from home seems like a constant struggle. It needs to be fun and motivating, but not too distracting, and this seems like the perfect balance.

This London duo have released their second album and it’s had some great responses, but you don’t have to just take our word for it. They’ve had rave reviews from NME, DIY and Pitchfork.

Listen where you usually do.
