This week, we’re focusing on wellness. It's becoming increasingly important to take good care of our mental health, and we’ve found a few small ways to have some well-deserved me-time this week. From reflection through poetry, to getting our greens and taking care of our hair, read more to find out what we’ve discovered in week 7!
Stay Home Discoveries 2.0: Week 7
What we’re eating
It’s hard to think of dinners to have everyday of the week, especially when you have to plan around one weekly trip to the supermarket. Food delivery boxes are great if you’re out of ideas. All Plants create 100% plant based ready meals that are a healthy alternative to some others on the market. They have a range of tasty dishes, from Chickpea & Mushroom Korma to Rigatoni Carbonara and Teriyaki Odon, this is great if you’re trying to be vegan, or just get more veg in your diet.
Delivered frozen, they’re great to have stocked in the freezer for those days when you don’t feel like cooking.
What we’re buying
Fable & Mane HoliRoots Hair Oil
Fable and Mane are a family run business that focuses on wellness first and foremost.
Creating haircare products inspired by ancient Indian process and using natural ingredients including turmeric, mango and hibiscus, their products nourish and replenish the scalp and hair. Their products are vegan and cruelty free and also help to fund Tiger conservation too. Read more about their projects over on their website.
What we're watching
Can’t Get You Out Of My Head - BBC iPlayer
I think we can all agree that the modern world is an increasingly scary and downright weird place to be, and that is documented in the new show by Adam Curtis, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
The documentary film series looks at a few of the major topics of the current day, from artificial intelligence, money, power and other conspiracies. This definitely gets you thinking. We recommend watching something simple and mindless afterwards to balance it out.
Wolf & Moon Hair Clips
We think our hair deserves a little bit of love. You may have been able to squeeze in a trim when we briefly left lockdown in the summer, but we bet your barnet isn’t where you want it to be. Hands up if you're still growing out a misguided home cut.
These statement clips are sure to add some style to your hair, in lockdown and beyond. We’ve combined gorgeous colours and mixed materials to create four styles that work well in almost every hair tone. And the super grippy clips will keep your hair in place all day long!
What we’re wearing
Holiday the Label
If you’re a maximalist dresser, you’ll love the pieces from Holiday, we’re a little obsessed with their statement prints. From zebra to tie-dye, checkerboard to floral, their collection of clothing has us dreaming of summer evenings.
Designed in Sydney and made by a family run textile manufacturer in Bali, Holiday prioritises quality, making updates on classic items like trousers and shirts, making smaller items like scrunchies and face masks from their scrap fabric.
We’ve got pieces from their new collection on our summer wardrobe wishlist.
Marques ' Almeida
We love to see brands that are taking big steps to improve their sustainability in 2021 and Marques ‘ Almeida are doing just that.
Alongside their initiatives to recycle and reuse items (M’A Pre-owned re-sells used items, and reM’Ade creates new pieces from waste), they have incorporated new processes into their production, including natural waste dyes and GOTS/BCI certified organic cotton.
In terms of accountability, they have shared their outlined sustainability and social goals on their website.
What we're reading
Rupi Kaur - Home Body
If you’re looking for a little bit of reflection, the newest book from cult poet Rupi Kaur is here! Home Body is an intimate look at personal journey. With short poems and illustrations by the author, the book is a lovely way to spend some much needed me-time.
The book is available everywhere, but we recommend supporting an independent or local book store if you can. A few of our London faves are listed below, but have a look for local places near you.
We'll be back with more recommendations soon!
