What is 'gold-filled'?
Gold-filled is a thick layer of gold mechanically bonded over jewellers' brass. It is a high quality and affordable alternative to solid gold. Gold-filled is thicker and much more hard wearing than gold-plating, and can last 10+ years with daily wear.
Brass is an ancient metal made from a combination of zinc and copper. We love it because it is…
AFFORDABLE: It closely resembles 14 karat gold but is far more affordable. Therefore we can make larger pieces with it and still keep the price reasonable.
LONG-LASTING: Brass will oxidise over time, but you can easily polish it back to its original finish as many times as you like. We include a small polishing cloth with all our brass jewellery to help you maintain that shiny finish. Click here for more care instructions on this.
ECO-FRIENDLY: Brass is one of the most sustainable materials available as it is infinitely recyclable. In fact, most brass in circulation has already been recycled as it is more expensive to produce new brass from raw materials.
How does it compare to gold plating?
Unless your jewellery has a very good quality, heavy plating (at least 2 microns thick), we think brass is a much better affordable choice than an item with a thin gold-plating. This is because the layer of gold will wear down pretty quickly and you won’t be able to restore its original look without getting it professionally plated again. Even an item with a heavy plating will eventually wear down over time.
But what about brass discolouring my skin?
We always add our signature layer of wood to the back of our brass pieces so the brass never sits against your skin and therefore won’t cause any discolouring.
Here are some easy care instructions to help look after your Wolf & Moon jewellery and keep it in great condition:
- Store your jewellery in a pouch or box.
- Clean gently with a soft cloth.
- It is best not to sleep, shower or exercise whilst wearing your jewellery.
- Avoid dropping your jewellery onto hard surfaces.
- Sprays and creams including soap, perfume, moisturiser and suncream can cause damage to some acrylic pieces and metal components so it is best to remove your jewellery before using any of these products.

I have received soooo many compliments from these lovely earrings! Instantly make me fee glam
Great service and wonderful jewelry as usual
Where did you get those?!
I got so many compliments….. took them to Ibiza on holiday. Absolutely love them. As did the people that admired them. I recommended them over & over again.
It was easy to order and the earrings arrived promptly and I was more than pleased with them
The quality and design are so perfect, I couldn't be happier !
The pieces of jewelry are absolutely gorgeous and the overall structure is very light and comfortable for my sensitive earlobes, while being an outstanding statement pieces ! I totally recommend the Wolf and Moon shop! It's the designer jewelry I've always been looking for : elegant, graphic, colorfoul, fun and yet minimalistic. (: Though I think, unfortunately, the shipping in Europe (Belgium, exactly) has gotten too complicated to sustain a fast and peaceful delivery. Following Brexit, the custom houses are not responsive enough (4 weeks wait and no news whatsoever from the customs itself) and taxes are quite expensive.
