Pride Month Discoveries: Small Business Edition

The first of a 4-part series, spotlighting LGBTQ+ brands, activists, books, TV and resources in celebration of Pride month. This week we're kicking off with some amazing queer owned small businesses that we've discovered over the years.

1. Boi Feathered @boifeathered

These fun, feathered pieces are handmade by Arturo in Valencia using deadstock fabric. We're a huge fan of the feather bandanas - the perfect hair accessory for festivals!

2. Nudes by Kia @nudesbykia_

This empowering small business is celebrating bodies by turning your nudes into personalised keyrings, jewellery and hoodies and we're here for it. Founded and co-managed by life partners Kia and Molly.

3. Boss Brunch @_boss_brunch

If you're looking for a way to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, Boss Brunch hosts fabulous and entertaining drag brunches at Jerusalem Soho. Check out their next event on the 26th of June here.

4. GRL GYM @grl.gym

An inclusive gym in Hackney Wick for the LGBTQ+ community and allies - a dream. Grl Gym are redefining what fitness means away from toxic fitness culture and in a space that feels safe for all marginalised groups.
 

5. MxMK LGBTQ+ Friendly Hair Salon @mxmk.hair

MxMK is changing the game in the hair world with an inclusive hair salon with gender neutral accessible pricing and by prioritising LGBTQIA+, QPOC and neurodivegent people.  

6. Self Care Co @selfcarecompany

This LGBTQ+ owned candle brand are on a mission to end mental health stigma 1 conversation and 1 candle at a time. Their plant based candles smell divine and look good too!

7. Feel Good Club @wearefeelgoodclub

Wives Keira and Aimie founded Feel Good Club in 2019 - a platform, cafe and merch brand all centered around doing things that make you feel good. Follow for encouraging, comforting posts and fun prints and clothing.

8. Gay's The Word Bookshop @gaysthewordbookshop

Gay's The Word was set up in January 1979 by a group of gay socialists as a community space where all profits were funnelled back into the business. This ethos continues today and the space is also used for community and book events!

9. YES PLEASE Restaurant @yespleaselondon

Yes Please is a queer owned restaurant with a diverse team that works to support queer suppliers. Founded by Shay Malt, who also is the owner of cult queer club night Adonis, Yes Please serves up a bangin' menu of 'camp small plates'. A must visit!

10. Proud Beer @proudbeeruk

A beer brand that does good. For every bottle of beer sold, 20p goes directly to an LGBTQIA+ charity. So far they've raised enough money to fund hundreds of self-test HIV kits, materials for anti-bullying materials and call support for the queer community. Check out their crate options here.
